Larissa de Barros Proença, MD, is a Brazilian physician with over 10 years of experience in geriatrics, long-term care, and healthcare management. She has led clinical and operational initiatives focused on patient safety, quality improvement, and healthcare systems optimization in long-term care facilities. Dr. Proença developed and implemented a structured COVID-19 clinical management protocol that achieved zero mortality among infected residents in a geriatric care facility in Brazil. She continues to design evidence-based programs in medication safety, hydration management, infection control, and falls prevention to improve clinical outcomes and operational performance in geriatric organizations.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, long-term geriatric care facilities were among the most vulnerable healthcare settings worldwide. This presentation describes the clinical and operational strategies implemented in a Brazilian long-term care facility that successfully achieved zero COVID-19 mortality among infected residents.
